Custom Made of durable and long-lasting nylon fabric and solid brass grommets, this flag lasts much longer than our Standard flag. You won't find nylon flags with higher tensile and tear strength. It has excellent strength retention under UV exposure, and high resistance to UV fading. The colors are deep, bright, and last over time due to the aniline dye process. They have better wash-fastness and light-fastness than nylons of similar fabric construction. One inch double edge fold around flag, with four rows of stitching on the fly edge. There reinforced stitching at the top and bottom of the fly edge of the flag.
This product has the following features:
- Durable, high-quality dacron polyester flag made to last
- Resistant to water, UV fading and pressure
- Includes one-inch double edge fold right around the flag to keep it in place
- Reinforced stitching at the bottom and top of the flag
- You can attach it easily to any flag pole

History of the General Fremont Flag.

The Fremont Flag, designed and made by Jessie Benton Fremont, 1841. General John Charles Fremont, also referred to as the "Pathfinder", first unfurled the Fremont flag on the crest of the Rocky Mountains on his First Expedition westward into United States territory on August 15, 1842. Knowing he would enter territories beyond national boundaries, Fremont realized he could not carry the Stars and Stripes. His bride, Jessie Benton Fremont, solved the problem by designing and making a flag that incorporated elements of the national flag, with a distinctive motif (the eagle's talon holds a peace pipe or "calumet" instead of the traditional olive branch) intended as a message of peace to the Native people. In his memories, Fremont wrote he flew the flag on "Snow Peak", now known as Fremont Peak in present day Wyoming, and "unfurled the national flag to wave in the breeze where never a flag had waved before." On returning from his expedition, Fremont gave the flag to his wife, who backed it with a piece of her lilac silk wedding dress and embroidered upon it, in gold, the words "Rocky Mountains, 1841"--the year the expedition set forth. The flag was later said to be carried and used on Fremont's Third Expedition in 1845-1846, an expedition that historians remark as a turning point in California history. The flag was donated to the Southwest Museum by Fremont's daughter, Elizabeth, on May 3, 1905 and which she later rose on the day of the Museum's groundbreaking in 1912. It is unknown if this is the flag Fremont flew in California.
Who is John Charles Freemont?
John Charles Fremont, better known as the "Pathfinder", became a national hero for his expedition Westward into California in 1842. During his third expedition in 1845, he won, with the help of the Osos, California's indepedency from Mexico, raising the United States and California Republic flags on July 4, 1846. He served as one of the state's first senators. He was appointed a general by President Lincoln during the Civil War. His popularity and anitslavery stance were also instrumental in his election as the Republican Party's first presidential nominee in 1856, the youngest man yet to run for office.
